This I believe:
British and Australian people, the women in particular, are squandering one of the best accents in the world by using the word "bum" to refer to the posterior.
"Butt" or "ass" or maybe even--in rare cases--"bottom" sounds pretty cool. "Bum" sounds ridiculous, and its utterance demolishes the credibility of whoever says it.
This I believe.
